Okay this is the sh* Noggy’s talking about!!
Hyuandai Veloster presents the RE:GENENRATION project. The project follows DJ Premier, Mark Ronson, Skrillex, Pretty Lights and The Crystal Method as they remix, recreate and re-imagine five traditional styles of music. From the classical perfection of the Berklee Symphony Orchestra to the bayou jams of New Orleans jazz, the five distinctive DJs collaborate with some of today’s biggest musicians to discover how our musical past is influencing the future.
First up one of my favorites … Mark Ronson. It’s obvious he took his task very seriously cause he is hitting us up with supreme quality music. In collaboriaton with Erykah Badu, Yasiin Bey (Mos Def), Trombone Shorty and The Dap Kings he brings us “A la Modeliste”, a comtemperary blues track that will have clapping your hands and stomping your feet in no time.
Needless to say I am looking forward to more visuals of the RE:GENERATION project.

I’ve already blogged two audio streams of The Robert Glasper Experiments upcoming album “Black Radio” on @Noggy73 … but to make sure that Strangefruit readers are in the know … you can stream the first visual of the album below. For more info on the album I suggest you hit up the Robert Glasper website.
The tracklist and the audiostreams featuring King and Erykah Badu are tangible proof that “Black Radio” is not only the music must-have of 2012 (eventhough it just started) but also a modern classic ..
Yep it looks like the 28th of February 2012 will be a beautiful day in music history.
Jose James has a new album coming out in 2012 “No beginning , No End” . His first single of the new album ”Trouble” was released two months ago. But let’s face it … there is no better way to keep the buzz going than when you hit your fans up with some free downloadable modern classics.
I guess there is nothing more to add just start streaming …

Very appreciative of this free download by Amp Live. Love the predominantly jazz infused glitchy beats with a little Hip Hop here and there.
It’s been a while since “Murder at the Discotech” and I’m pleased to see that he’s moved on to something a little less obvious and a bit more experimental. This Ep has a lot of pleasant surprises.

Damnnnn … have I stumbled upon something delicious you most definitely will enjoy.
Recorded and filmed in a warehouse space belowthe E1 London design studios AllSaints Spitalfields continue to bring you new music and exclusive content in the form of their widely acclaimed Basement Sessions project.
This time is it was Jose James turn and he performed two new tracks you can stream below. If you’ve seen the videos and you can get enough …click here and head over to allsaints.com
I was very happy to find this in my e-mail today. No wonder considering that “happy” seems to be the main ingredient to all “Bennie Sings” productions. Bennie Sings is the alias to Tim van Berkenstijn. He is pretty much the Dutch answer to Micheal Franks with a litlle more umphh to his jazz infused pop tracks.
Anyways it’s been a while since his last release “Benny … at home” and after a 4 year hiatus “ART” will be available on the 27th of May. If “Dreams” is any indication of the overall sound I’m kinda looking forward to playing his mostly feelgood sunny tunes this summer. The full album will be available as CD, vinyl and digital album. Pre-order is available at the Dox Records webshop starting today. If you want to keep up with the news, visit the website www.bennysings.com or follow Benny on Facebook and Twitter.
Well I’ve said everything that was to be said of Ntjam Rosie’s album in my previous post on “Elle”. The only thing left to say is that I wasn’t the only one who noticed that this release was the sh*t. 2011 has been a very exciting year for Ntjam Rosie so far with the numerous appearances, fotoshoots and interviews. As for the rest of 2011 ….I guess since Gilles Peterson has given his seal of approval it is safe to assume there is a lot more to come.
Told ya I was going to keep an eye on these youngsters for you. After the video for My Days I was wondering what the next track would sound like and whatdoyouknow Kids these days sound pretty mature to me ….

Blogging on the regular has some privileges … that is if you go through tons of e-mail and handle the submissions with care.
“The Branches” by Long Arm was LOVE at first listen. On the Project Mooncircle Bandcamp you can read the very beautiful back story on this creation but Strangefruitmusicblog is just gonna tell it like it is.
Usually when you pick music you pick something you are in the mood for but this album kinda sets the mood for yah. In essence some pretty laid back HipHop beats laced with some jazz can be expected. To take the whole jazzy hiphop feel to a higher level just the right amount of glitchy electronics and breaks are added that give the whole thing an ambient feel from time to time and I guess that turns this one into the headnoddder you have to own in 2011.
To enjoy the whole release you’ll have to be patient until the 11th of February 2011 and to make sure you know that this will be worth the wait you can stream and download the track “When Children Sleep” below.

So you decide when you are going to chill out to this one … you can do it with a glass of wine on a Saturday evening but a cup of tea on a Sunday morning is equally appropriate.

If you didn’t catch their performance at Noorderslag, North Sea Jazz or Lowlands this is most definitely a party you can’t afford to miss.
It should come as no surprise that when you fuse one of Netherlands best Hip Hop performers with one of Netherlands best Jazz acts it will result in an energetic musical fest only artists that are in it for the love of music can provide you with. Typhoons sharp and witty lyrics accompanied by the very high quality musicianship of the New Cool Collective will fascinate you from begining to end and of course you’ll be shaking some booty as well. I can honestly say that even though The Chocolade EP is a very pleasant musical journey, nothing compares to the live experience.
I happened to be at the North Sea Jazz gig and the only thing left to say is …prepare to be blown away. They have a few gigs lined up in November and Noggy’s advice on this one is … be there!!
04-11 Tivoli, Utrecht
06-11 Parkstad Limburg Theaters, Heerlen
25-11 Off_Corso, Rotterdam
26-11 Luxor Live, Arnhem
27-11 Melkweg, Amsterdam
28-11 Hedon, Zwolle

I don’t know about you, but I have known that Hiphop fused with some jazz is a winning combination ever since Stetsasonic dropped Talkin All that Jazz. Apparantly the jazz/hiphop thing didn’t escape the attention of Okayplayer executives because The Freedom Suite is a jazz/hiphop oriented free download that is meant to coincide with the unveiling of Okayplayers new Jazz oriented blog the Revivalist.
The Blogger and Music addict in me is very grateful for both initiatives. My Blogger side advices anyone who is into anything jazzy to hit up The Revivalist on a very regular basis while the Music Junky in me is headnodding while streaming all this quality music as this mustshare is being downloaded to my computer.
Anyways whatever you decide to do first Enjoy!!

RELATED POST: NTJAM ROSIE – ELLE (NEW RELEASE)

Strangefruitmusicblog is obviously about all kinds of music with a very soulful twist and after providing you with everything from grimey electronics to hardcore hiphop …all you jazz loverz can finally exhale. Cause it’s time to update you on Njam Rosie’s latest release ELLE. Unfortunately I’ve missed every ELLE release party but in this case it turned out to be a good thing, cause I was able to listen to the album without any kind of prejudice. So now I can safely advice jazz loverz around the globe to cop this release. Why?!
ELLE, is a very jazzy mix which happens to be spiced up with either a warm brazilian flow or at times a somewhat african vibe. But it doesn’t really matter what kind of flavour is added to the track … there is always a touch of soul to it. Since this release is very well put together I am happy to announce it’s a non skipper …meaning that you can press play, sit down, relax and enjoy the very pleasant journey. Apart from the beautiful lyrics and Ntjam Rosie’s soothing vocals a lot of very impressive musical arrangements will be heading your way. I guess it’s safe to say that producers Nelson & Djosa did a great job.
Of course this is Noggy’s personal opinion and luckily you can make up your own mind cause you can stream the entire album (for a short period of time) when you click here and when you have finished listening you can click here (eu) & here (us) to purchase ELLE on iTunes.

I always had big love for tha fellowbloggers over at the Mint Collective. They are so on point when it comes to picking tunes, downloads and videos with an easy going jazzy kind of flow!! This time they and the people over at the Couchsessions are doing Strangefruitmusicblog readers a huge favour.
Because of these blogs which are a guarantee for good quality music we can provide you with this awesome download.
The Couch Sessions pays tribute to this princess of soul by way of The Dream Suite. The audio experience is blended as a 31 minute mix showcasing some of Ms. Triana’s back catalog, remixes and rarities, sprinkled with ambient hip-hop instrumentalism and field recordings from the great city of London.
