Strangefruitmusicblog did a few post on Janelle Monae before Janelle Monae – The Chase II & III: The Arch Android and JANELLE MONAE – TIGHTROPE (MUSICVIDEO) . If you are not familiar with Janelle Monae be sure to check out those first. It will help you put what you are about to read in the right context…. and well it just so happens that she is not completely nuts as I have stated before, she’s just alien….But alien or not one thing is certain…I have to see her LIVE!! Why?..Just check out the video below…but please do read the following first
Whether or not the following information came from Ryan Wakeman, WARPA, the Gaiming community or Janelle Monáe’s journals, Max Stellings and the Palace of the Dogs Archives is inconclusive at this time…What is known or agreed upon is that this information stems from an official entry on The ArchAndroid Crown in the Living Cyktionary, a 28th Century encyclopedia…
The ArchAndroid Crown: Designed by Zoman Ignatius, the half-elf, half-human mystic, reportedly 500 years ago. According to legend, the crown has several magic properties, as well as innovative technologies that can be employed only by The ArchAndroid. Zoman was a consummate inventor, artist and sculptor, a cross between Tesla and Da Vinci, and as such, he designed the crown to be a work of beauty that would embody the very spirit of Metropolis. According to legend, the crown features prominent Metropolis buildings and towers that will light up radiantly when the one and only true ArchAndroid wears the crown. According to the Daily Horos, this opulent headdress was stolen from the vaults in the Black House, reportedly by 1954, in October of 2715. Several members of 1954 were hunted down and executed for this crime. But the crown was never found. Many claim it has been secreted away to the Wonderground. There is also word that in the year 2010, several 1954 operatives have crafted a replica of this historic headdress to be worn by Janelle Monáe in anticipation for her album The ArchAndroid…no word on whether or not this replica has magic properties… The Living Cyktionary, 9th Edition, 2719

The Sellout is the fifth studio album by American R&B-soul singer–songwriter Macy Gray, set to be released in the United States on June 22, 2010.
Gray announced the album on her website, stating that it had been a work in progress since 2008. She wrote:
Hello.
Since November 2008, I’ve been working hard on my fifth album and am so excited for you to hear it. It is called “The Sellout.”
It’s about all the mountains I’ve been climbing to be where I want to be in my personal and professional life. It is most certainly my best work and we are almost finished.
The album is produced by Myself, Jared and Whitey, Caviar, Kaz James and Rodney Jerkins. It includes a duet with the legendary Bobby Brown and performances by the best musicians I’ve ever known.
Malcolm Robert Andrew McLaren (22 January 1946 – 8 April 2010) was an English performer, impresario, self-publicist and former manager of the Sex Pistols and the New York Dolls. I wouldn’t know where start if I had to discuss Mr McLaren’s extensive body of work. He was into everything from punk, to hip hop to vogueing. It didn’t matter what kind of flavour or trend he was putting out…it was an instant hit because he obviously put his heart into it and therefore managed touch our souls. This trendsetter and truly inspirational man will surely be missed by many.

Roxanne Tataei a.k.a Rox is a 21 year old South London singer-songwriter I think we are going to hear a lot from in 2010. I accidently saw her perform at the 2008 North Sea Jazz festival with Mark Ronson where she did a stunning rendition of Amy Winehouse’s Valerie. Even though nobody knew who this young lady was at the time…everybody knew it would be just a matter of time before we would hear from her again. Why?!…Because we didn’t miss Amy that day.
I guess the time is now for Rox. With her latest release My Baby Left Me climbing the charts and an album called Memoirs that will be released in the first quarter of 2010 Rox seems to be unstoppable. The album was partially recorded in New Jersey in April 2009 with Commissioner Gordon (of Lauryn Hill fame) but mainly in London with Jay-Z and Lupe Fiasco producer Al Shux. Her track “I Don’t Believe” is currently being used in an advertising campaign by Rimmel. All of this sounds like a pretty good start to me.
To hear her soulful voice that is sometimes rough around the edges but never out of key…I suggest you check out her Myspace page. If you are a Dutch native and as impressed with her as I am after hearing what she is capable of…. she will be performing at Paradiso on the 10th of May!!
