If you are not familiar with Jai Paul … my bad, cause I failed to introduce you to this London based artist last year. In Jai Paul’s case the music is basically the only thing we have to go on. There seems to be an air of mystery surrounding this artist cause other than his singer songwriter and producer skills thereis not much I can tell you about him.
To fans he is best known for his 2010 release BSTU, the track that put him on the map (for me).
BSTU by Jai Paul
After the 2010 smasher I hadn’t heard much from Jai Paul. That is up until 13 hours ago … Out of nowhere he hit fans up with a stream for his latest “Jasmine“. Even though it has a slightly different electronic feel, I’d have to say the man created another banger..
Jasmine by Jai Paul
Aluna Francis and George Read are taking the blogosphere by storm with there catchy RnB infused tune “You know you like it”. I actually discovered them a while ago when I was cruising Amalia her wall … cause the lady has incredible taste as well as an incredible voice.
Anyways Alunageorge needs to be kept an an eye on, cause when visiting there soundcloud page …I found the illest dubstep beats. looking forward to hearing more of those two.
Lenny’s Black and White America dropped in august 2011. But since I am not a huge Lenny Kravitz fan, I failed to inform you.
I just streamed his latest video and I kinda stand corrected. There is something so right about the title track of the album and I’m not just talking about the politically correct lyrics here. The baseline, the strings the whole 70′s vibe of this arrangement … is simply delightful.

Azealia Banks is a 19-year-old lyricist from Harlem, NYC and at this point I haven’t got much on this young lady except for her very fresh visuals for her track 212!! The track was a free download on her soundcloud page … but when you press play you will immediately understand why it says “this track has reached it’s download limit”.

Ben Westbeech – There’s More To Life Than This Out 12th September http://bit.ly/nq3FoV
He hasn’t jumped the gun, that’s for sure. Having spent several rudderless years following the release of his debut album Welcome To The Best Years Of Your Life, the re-energised producer, singer and DJ eased himself back in to the breach earlier this year with the single Falling and follow-up Something For The Weekend. Now, finally, the long awaited There’s More To Life Than This album is upon us. Recorded in Berlin, New York, London, Bristol, Munich, Stockholm and Stuttgart with producers Motor City Drum Ensemble, Redlight, Georg Levin, Chocolate Puma, Midland, Soul Clap and Henrik Schwarz, the album marries Ben’s songwriting and soul/jazz instincts with a house edge provided by some of the scene’s leading producers and the result is a harmonious, elegant and above all, individual set
Tracklisting:
1. The Book (Produced by Georg Levin)
2. Something For The Weekend (Produced by Danny J Lewis)
3. Falling (Produced by Lovebirds)
4. Same Thing (Produced by Chocolate Puma)
5. Justice (Produced by Motor City Drum Ensemble)
6. Stronger (Produced by Midland)
7. Inflections (Produced by Henrik Schwartz)
8. Sugar (Produced by Redlight)
9. Let Your Feelings Show (Produced by Georg Levin)
10. Butterflies (Produced by Rasmus Faber)

Hannibal is the founding member of several popular collaborative efforts over the past 5 years including Owusu & Hannibal (Ubiquity Records, 2006), Quadron (Plug Research, 2010) and most recently Boom Clap Bachelors (Plug Research, 2011). His projects have garnered praise from the likes of Pharrell Williams to Adele; from Giles Peterson (BBC) to the entire team at KCRW.
But while Robin recognizes the benefits of working within cohesive groups and collaborations, he also values expressing his creative freedom through individual efforts.
Enter Bobby, his solo EP which was released digitally only on August 30, 2011 on Plug Research Music. Free to express his ideas fully and completely, Bobby fuses modern, abstract production with classic songwriting. The result is an ambitious leap into the future. (source: Plug Research)

We reported in March that the tracks were remixed and the tracklist was being compiled. Well … on the 12th of September the wait for Ben Westbeech’s second album is over. To let us all know that “There’s more to life than this” Mr. Westbeech hit us up with the visuals to his feelgood groove “Something for the Weekend”.
Strangefruitmusic reported that Sade was Back … way back in December 2009 and judging by the way she’s working it, it seems that she plans on being around for a while.
After Soldier of Love dropped in February of 2010, Sony Entertainment released the Ultimate Collection in 2011 while Sade was on Tour. Somehow in the midst of all that Sade found time to release a video for ”Love is Found”.
But we’re not complaining … we appreciate the visuals as well as the haunting bass line.

Love this from beginning to end … “Untold Songs” is a perfectly compiled release featuring all female vocalists who all sing their stories in different ways with music from various genres. Apart from good music you are supporting a good cause when you decide to cop this disc.
Big Up for Belle, the London based singer who selected all the songs for this album. She some how managed to make a perfectly smooth blend of songs and artists that might seem like a mismatch at first glance. If something seems vaguely familiar that might be cause she is not exactly a stranger to Strangefruitmusic since she was featured on the blog a while ago.
The compilation is being released in collaboration with Amnesty International and She Said 2 Much to raise awareness and money for Amnesty International’s “Stop Violence Against Women” campaign. Proceeds from the sale of this release will go straight to Amnesty International. Prior to this release a free download with remixes was provided and you can download that here …

It doesn’t really matter if it’s soul, pop, rock or opera … this man can sing anything without losing credibility. It should come as no surprise that he rocks the hell out of the Soft Cell classic “Tainted Love”.
I was very happy to find this in my e-mail today. No wonder considering that “happy” seems to be the main ingredient to all “Bennie Sings” productions. Bennie Sings is the alias to Tim van Berkenstijn. He is pretty much the Dutch answer to Micheal Franks with a litlle more umphh to his jazz infused pop tracks.
Anyways it’s been a while since his last release “Benny … at home” and after a 4 year hiatus “ART” will be available on the 27th of May. If “Dreams” is any indication of the overall sound I’m kinda looking forward to playing his mostly feelgood sunny tunes this summer. The full album will be available as CD, vinyl and digital album. Pre-order is available at the Dox Records webshop starting today. If you want to keep up with the news, visit the website www.bennysings.com or follow Benny on Facebook and Twitter.

Yep, Cee Lo Green strikes again and literally this time. I thought his track “F*ck You” would be hard to top and even though I haven’t completely changed my mind about that and I think “F*ck You” is a radio classic … The slightly disturbing video to the marvelous sounding “Bodies” is most definitely a classic when it comes to the visuals. All I can say is this video gives a whole new persepective on the album tittle “The Lady Killer”.

Came across this by accident and it immediatly felt like a must share. Jensen Sportag is a synth pop duo from Nashville (of all places) and they are one of the many cool addition to the Cascine record label which is based in Los Angeles, NewYork and London and focuses on everything that is experimental pop.
Jensen Sportag’s new album “Pure Wet” will drop on the 15th of February 2011 and after hearing just this one track “Everything Good” and doing a little bit of additional research … I don’t need much convincing … it’s just obvious that something of the hook is coming our way. Some eighties synth pop that touches a little bit of RnB and is electronically mastered to fit your ears post millenium needs … how cool is that?!
As of now we are naturally going to keep you posted on everything Jensen Sportag and we are going to start by serving you with a free download provided by Cascine of the track “Everything Good”.

A musical treat from Cee Lo Green’s ” The Lady Killer ” album … the track “Fool for You”. This time with a little twist cause instead of Earth Wind and Fire’s Philip Bailey this version features an artists that has not been around that long, but is surely working her way up to becoming just as impressive … Melanie Fiona. Anyways it’s a hell of a way to add a little umph to this Cee Lo jawn…enjoy!!

The live performance video of “Levels” surfaced way back in 2009 and was just one of many signs that after a long hiatus new music from Bilal was really heading our way. The rest is history … ”Airtight Revenge” proved to be very much worth the wait and Strange fruit music was witness to a killer performance just a few months before the album dropped.
But since this is Bilal …all he has created must be taken to a higher level at some point. So it’s no wonder that the official music video for “Levels” is directed by Flying Lotus and features none other than Erykah Badu and Shafiq Husain. Obviously this combination of participants can only result into something very interesting…just check it out!!

Purity Ring consists of Corin Roddick and Megan James whose names were very hard to find cause even though there unexpectedly cool future pop debut “Ungirthed” is slowly but surely popping up on blogs everywhere there is not much info on Purity Ring yet.
Usually when you infuse pop songs with electronics they end up sounding rather lame … but this tune makes you want to do some diggin on the future pop subject…
DOWNLOAD: PURITY RING – UNGIRTHED
There is no way you could not have known about this one … cause Strangefruitmusicblog dropped this allert one yah way back in September of 2010.
The selftitled Magnetic Man album contained atleast one gem as far as I was concerned “Getting Nowhere” featuring John Legend. Just recently cool bordering on creepy visuals were added to this hot track with actually somewhat depressing lyrics.
All I’m thinking is that the Magnetic Man turn out to be genius’ after all … cause there is actually a lot of dopeness to all of this darkness.

The question “Who is Chilly Gonzales?” elicits various answers: Berlin underground prankster rapper, workaholic Grammy-nominated producer, melancholic piano virtuoso or Guinness World Record holder. And now: IVORY TOWER writer, composer, actor and producer.
Since even I don’t have a clue … I suggest you visit http://www.chillygonzales.com/ … the one thing I do know is that he’s able to produce some tight electronic infused poppy disco tunes and some classical ones to for that matter. I’ve blogged the video to his most entertaining “Never Stop Rap“ before and I have to say that to appreciate his upbeat funny tunes this has to be your cup of tea … but I’ve got the feeling everybody will be able to dance to “You can Dance“.
