Dammnn … talk about a youngster with an old soul … Anthony Anderson a.k.a Tope happens to be just that. He managed to pick all the right old soulful beats and gave them an authentical Tope makeover. The result is a 19 track beattape. The tracks are mostly around 1.50 min. but you won’t mind cause as your headnodding to the beat you can’t help but to look forward to the next one …
Usually I’m not to crazy about beattapes but this FRSH SLCTS WKND BEATS #7 production by Tope called “FREELEMONADE” is hard to ignore. You can stream the video below but it’s simply not enough to give you the right feel. For samples and a free copy of ”FREELEMONADE” click here.
Introducing an unusual collab that for some reason actually works. Jay Z is doing his thing somewhere near the end of Sade’s “Moon and The Sky”. But don’t fear when you hit play you will find that this track has Sade written all over it.
The track is featured on ”The Ultimate Collection” which can you pre-order on Sade’s online store. For more details and to pre-order click here.

Somehow Ryan Leslie never achieved big commercial succes. While his sound is perfectly sitting between the commercial and underground he never got his big break. We at Strange Fruit headquarters love a lot of the stuff this man is doing. Here is a tune from the forthcoming Les Is More album. Let’s see if times are changing and Ryan gets the credits he deserves.
I can’t tell you what it is about this Trimonia track but I really dig tha sound. Maybe it’s the fact that it’s Sunday evening or just the idea that if Chuck Norris had a tune it would sound as sexy as this …

Beautiful video with a less upbeat story than “Radio” but very much reflecting the lyrics and worth the watch …enjoy!

To me there is nothing more interesting than to hear an artist talk about the inspiration to his latest creation. The aforementioned is exactly what Raphael Saadiq’s beatifully crafted EPK is about … enjoy!!
I don’t know about you … but I’m still in the process of recuperating from the first single of the forthcoming “Stone Rollin”. The new track by name of “Good Man” is exactly the opposite of the very upbeat “Radio“. But since this is a Raphael Saadiq production one thing is certain …. the Motown Sound lives on.
Yep we’ve barely started 2011 and there is yet another release to be on the lookout for cause somewhere in March 2011 Raphael Saadiq is about to drop yet another soulful album by the name of ”Stone Rollin”.
Of course I wouldn’t be reporting on this if I didn’t have additional news to keep you on the edge of your seat with. To hold us down till the album drops the first single “Radio” will be released on the 11th of January 2011. If this is any indication of how the album sounds … I guess we can expect a lot of that old Motown sound he’s been keeping alive these days.

Hell yeah Strangefruitmusicblog allerting you on something soulful to ease into weekend mode!!
A musical collab between two of my favourite personalities Mr. Nalden and Anthony Valadez. The first one known for picking an item and the other one known for picking a tune.
Nalden announced earlier today that this mix by Anthony Valadez is one in a string of many more to come. But at the moment I’m still blown away by this certified headnodder of a mix that has Anthony Valadez’ soulful flow all over it. So start streaming and headover to Nalden.net to download this gem. But a word of warning before you do … protect ya neck!!

The latest track by mr. Boykins kinda makes me go hmmmmm …. Since I am just wondering how he makes a line as creepy as “come to my room” (considering the fact the girl adressed in the lyrics doesn’t know him yet) sound so freaking enticing.
So gentlemen if your swag ain’t working yet and you’re in need of some sort of advice and ladies if you haven’t been served your dessert yet …just start streaming the video below and feast your eyes and ears on Jesse Boykins III.
DOWNLOAD: COULTRAIN – WHILE SHE WAS SLEEPING
Dammn do I appreciate this gift!! If like me you live in the part of the world (Europe) where it’s cold and wet and very very windy. There is nothing like some good music with a soulful flow to keep you headnodding while you take a sip from your hot milk/tea/cocoa. I know that that is what I’ll be doing while listening to Mr. Coultrain’s awesome compilation.
If you have a “warm up” in mind that is less innocent than the abovementioned …. is good for that too. Anyways enjoy!!
