Letherette by Blad

Standing up for a new wave of artists struggling to elbow their way into the limelight, ‘Brownswood Electr*c’ weaves a path through the electronic landscape in 2010, representing the rainbow spectrum of electronic goodness purveyed by Brownswood’s figurehead Gilles Peterson in his radio playlists and DJ sets. The boundaries between so-called “hip-hop”, “house”, “techno”, “dubstep” and “drum & bass” have never been so blurred, often rendering these signifiers practically obsolete, and indeed it’s at these crossings, junctions and awkward intersections where the most inspiring and stirring sound clashes occur. These are the sounds that we commemorate on ‘Brownswood Electr*c’ – the music that occupies the grey areas… that lives in the spaces in between… that falls between the gaps.
