Jaime Meline, better known by his stage name El-P aka El-Producto is an American hip hop artist from Brooklyn, New York City. As a producer, El-p is notable for his innovative mix of bleak futurism and low fidelity sounds. His dense, claustrophobic sounds are strongly influenced by Public Enemy’s production team, The Bomb Squad, as well as innovators like Art of Noise and Nine Inch Nails.
I think the aforementioned is about all the info you need to be able to digest what you are about to hear. On the 3th of August El-p dropped his latest release “WEAREALLGOINGTOBURNINHELLMEGGAMIXXX3” and it’s available on iTunes.
A few days ago a very cinematic video to the track “Time Won’t Tell” hit the net and I guess there was something really interesting about a video with visuals inspired by the directors childhood memory accompanied by a rather dark and mysterious beat, because I immediatly felt some research had to be done.
The outcome of this research led me to El-p’s bandcamp site where you can download a lot good music for free. Two of these tracks are featured on his latest megamixx release Whores: the movie & Meanstreak in 3 parts. I don’t have a lot to add …except that these tracks really need to be listened to and if you dig you can download these two for free but in this case I think it would be even better to purchase the whole CD.
