Meet Sherry Dyanne, the girl most Dutch people know for her stunning Erykah Badu imitation on a Duth Television show called “de soundmix show”. Sherry Dyanne has come a long way since then. She has been touring with Micheal Franti and has been on stage with Benjamin Herman and Leon Ware.

But now the time has come for Sherry Dyanne to do Sherry Dyanne. On December 2nd her debut album “Sing me a song” will drop and I’ve got a feeling about his one. With her remarkable Billie Hollidayish voice she will bring us some new stuff and some revamped old stuff. Curious about her sound? Stream the video below.

If you happen to be in Amsterdam (Netherlans) on the 3th of December. Get your but over to People’s Place, Stadhouderskade 5 …for the CD release party.

Hmmm … seems like a lot is about to go down in 2011 starting with this “older” newcomer by the name of  Charles Bradley. The 62 year old soul singer was discovered by the co-founder of Daptone records Gabriel Roth while performing routines under the alter ego “Black Velvet”. The ultimate result is that …”No Time For Dreaming” Charles’ debut album is about to drop on the 25th of January 2011 via Dunham Records a new subsidiary of Daptone Records . Whats going to be the all over sound?! … Brand new old soul of course and you can stream some tracks below to sample what that sounds like.

If you dig his tunes and you happen to live in Europe … make sure to watch out for Charles Bradley and the Menahan Street Band because their European tour starts in February 2011.

Stumbled upon this little gem on the Stones Throw website and afcourse this is a must share. The second single from Aloe Blacc’s forthcoming Good Things is a 7-inch of “Femme Fatale”, Aloe Blacc & Truth+Soul’s take on the Velvet Underground classic. The nicest thing about this track is that it sounds just like it should….classic!!

The Simonsound by strangefruitmusic

THE SIMONSOUND – Reverse Engineering (First Word) Comentários: The Simonsound is a sonic collaboration between Simon James and Matt Ford aka DJ Format. ‘Reverse Engineering’ is their tribute to 50s and 60s “space music” (the sort of Moog and theremin saturated music espoused by Raymond Scott, The Radiophonic Workshop et al) mixed with a mature B-Boy’s sense of intrepid exploration beyond the annals of funk and soul. We can find analogs for this style in the madcap mixes of Finders Keeper’s Andy Votel and Dom Thomas or more accurately the orchestrations of Barry Adamson, reflected in The Simonsound focus on original productions using an array of vintage equipment. Opener, and previous single, ‘Tour De Mars’ is a bit of a peach, recreating a Kraftwerk classic with psyche drum breaks and Moog washes, while elsewhere they cycle between soundtracky scapes ‘Inside The Capsule’, moody spy-funk ‘Hole In The Head’, bloopy exercises like ‘Bakers Dozen’, abstract martian floaters, and submerged jazz torch songs like ‘Between the Wake and the Sleep’.
