Pencil in the 21st of September because that is the day that John Legends & the Roots’ Wake up will be released. The album will feature covers of ‘Wholy Holy’ by Marvin Gaye and Donny Hathaway’s ‘Little Ghetto Boy’. I could go on and on but here is the tracklist:

1. “Compared to What”
2. “Hard Times”
3. “Little Ghetto Boy”
4. “Wake Up Everybody” feat. Common and Melanie Fiona
5. “Our Generation”
6. “Love the Way It Should Be”
7. “Hang On in There”
8. “I Can’t Write Left Handed”
9. “Wholy Holy”
10. “I Wish I Knew How It Would Feel to Be Free”
11. “Shine”

There were rumors about it on the Okayplayer messageboard but now It’s official The Roots will produce John Legends upcoming LP  “The Wake Up Sessions”. There is no tracklist yet but I promise to keep you updated on the details. The Wake Up Sessions is scheduled to drop later this year and to get you as excited as I am…I’m going to share Questlove’s Twitter message from Thursday 11th february(European time)… great day (sans rats). mixed the 1st song on @johnlegend’s Wake Up album. barnone his funkiest song & dare i say the funkiest ish in 10yrs.

If it sounds anything like this clip of John Legend and the Roots performing in Grammy Weekend 2010 (eventhough it is not the best quality footage)…Questlove ain’t lying.
