Brand new Project by Eric Lau with Floating Points, Fatima (Eglo), Rahel (Eric Lau/MDCL),Sarinah Leah ( TY), Finn Peters
Anthem time!!! Latest Hyperdub signings Funkineven just set our stylus on fire with two boogie power moves for Eglo! Thus far, we’ve only caught a couple of dazzling glimpses of this fella, namely on the ‘Kleer’ 12″ and a bumpin’ couple of beats for Fatima, but this 12″ is sure to set him out as the UKs finest answer to Dâm-Funk. With ‘She’s Acid’ he imagines a timewarp where the early 80s boogie funk scene plugs directly into ’87 acid. Maximized machine beats are subtly but painstakingly inched together for serious dancefloor impact while a FAT acid line fills in the gaps with pure luminous funk. This is Deadly! Meanwhile on the flip ‘Must Move’ sets another badass boogie joint, making nods to Kraftwerk, Computer Jay and Egyptian Prince. Heavyweight dance music. No sleepin!

This is more like it Sam Sheperd aka Floating Points provides the world with a great mix. And shows his taste in music. Altough lots of people think Floating Points is post-dubstep or house. We know he’s so much more. Whether assembling tracks on his own, running the leftfield Eglo imprint with partner Alexander Nut, or leading the grandiose Floating Points Ensemble with a bevvy of live musicians, Shepherd clearly isn’t just another UK bass music producer. As this My Plastic People mix—made in tribute to the endangered Northeast London nightspot—proves, his tastes extend well beyond electronic music—much of the podcast focuses on jazz and funk gems from the 1970s, with only a few newer cuts making an appearance. You can check Floating Points in september on Strange Fruit at Watt. But before enjoy this great mix. Click

We’ve been supporting Fatima already since we heard her collaberation with Funkineven at the Deviation show of Benji B. So being excited about this release is an understatement. After featuring on many of our favorite tracks from last year like Shafiq Husayns ‘Lil Girl’, TettoryBad’s ‘Unite’ and Funkineven’s ‘Kleer’ it s time for her to shine. This ep features productions of Dam Funk, Veebeo and Funkineven and is a great listen. Eglo records done it again. Now it s waiting on mr Funkineven and by what we heard in february at our Strange Fruit party we know for sure that his new release is gonna be a blast to!
