I could just blog the video, but the back story to this live performance video is way to interesting not to share. When the “official” music video for “Close your Eyes” came out at the of 2010 I thought it was okay and moved on to whatever was next.
Obviously I was not paying attention cause there is a lot more to The Bullits their soon to be released debut “They die by dawn and other short stories”.
The album combines visual & audio elements and basically is the story of Amelia Sparks, an ice-cold murderess awaiting execution on death row. First heard on their debut single ‘Close Your Eyes’ Sparks character is narrated by Lucy Liu and weaves in and out of the albums tracks revealing her story and the actions that lead to her formidable position.
The events are also played out in real time on The Bullitts Twitter page (http://twitter.com/#!/thebullitts) where Amelia’s diary is serialised in of the moment tweets – it also features an illustrious cast of actors such as Idris Elba who plays detective Saul Emmanuel.
Of course it’s not all gimmick cause this release features some of the worlds most respected and celebrated artists like Tori Amos, Jay Electronica, Mos Def and Roisin Murphy. Curious? … You are going to have to wait till fall of 2011.

Okay I can actually handle the fact that this turns out to be a Jay Electronica / P-Diddy collab. But I really listened to this multiple times after being informed on the fact that Quincy Jones produced this track. I guess I totally underestimated “Q” in the Hiphop department.
Jay speaks on his breakout single, Exhibit C and on the producer who helped craft it, Just Blaze. From Paid Dues 2010

Eventhough I am sure that this man doesn’t have to be introduced to most of you. I am gonna do it anyway…cause I wanna make sure that everybody knows about the next thing in Hip Hop. His name and music are all over the net and I’ve known about him for a while now. Jay Electronica’s rappin was dope…but I have to admit that to me….he was just Erykah Badu’s third baby daddy untill I laid my eyes on this….
This short clip…made me want to keep an eye on this man. It is actually a promo for a film/music project The Dogon Society directed by Jason Goldwatch of Decon. Eventhough it reminded me of a very short video he did for Dear Moleskine this one seems more Epic and I will keep you posted…
Since I stand corrected and realize that Mr. Electronica is about so much more…I thought it was best to inform ya’ll about him!!
Afcourse there’s a small possibility that you are watching and reading all of this and thinking…‘man that’s old news!!’ If that is the case than you’re ready to know that he is flying into London to perform at the Jazz Cafe on the 17th and 18th of February 2010! If London happens to be a bit of a stretch…you can also check ’em out at The Sugar Factory in Amsterdam on the 19th of February!!
