Don’t get it twisted cause this retro jam is the latest by Mayer Hawthorne and the first single of a soon to be released new album. The video footage is genuinly old and taken from an old VHS videotape.

I could just blog the video, but the back story to this live performance video is way to interesting not to share. When the “official” music video for “Close your Eyes” came out at the of 2010 I thought it was okay and moved on to whatever was next.
Obviously I was not paying attention cause there is a lot more to The Bullits their soon to be released debut “They die by dawn and other short stories”.
The album combines visual & audio elements and basically is the story of Amelia Sparks, an ice-cold murderess awaiting execution on death row. First heard on their debut single ‘Close Your Eyes’ Sparks character is narrated by Lucy Liu and weaves in and out of the albums tracks revealing her story and the actions that lead to her formidable position.
The events are also played out in real time on The Bullitts Twitter page (http://twitter.com/#!/thebullitts) where Amelia’s diary is serialised in of the moment tweets – it also features an illustrious cast of actors such as Idris Elba who plays detective Saul Emmanuel.
Of course it’s not all gimmick cause this release features some of the worlds most respected and celebrated artists like Tori Amos, Jay Electronica, Mos Def and Roisin Murphy. Curious? … You are going to have to wait till fall of 2011.

Remember the Beastie Boy’s “Hot Sauce Committee part 2” ?! Well if you do here’s their second official video of the album. Their video for “Don’t play no game that I can’t win” is of course freaking hilarious. But don’t let the dolls fool yah … this action packed music video was directed by none other than the legendary Spike Jonze.

It’s been a while since we’ve heard from my man Stalley. The beats as well his rhymes are always on point. Apparently I’m not the only one who seems to think so cause he got signed to Rick Ross Maybach Music Group somewhere in April of 2011 . That is around the time he dropped of my musical radar.
Luckily he can’t stay away for long and presented the visuals to his wisdom infused track “Pound” a few days ago. If you didn’t download his free release Lincoln Way Nights a while ago this track might change your mind.

Noggy just loves the Live at the Loft show website, cause they tend to put out absolutely fabulous stuff. The video you can stream below is no exception.
Since the Loft is based in Hoboken, NJ in the USA … imagine my surprise when I came accros a live performance video of Full Crate & Mar (The Netherlands, Amsterdam). But then again with their talent it was obvious they were going places and of course the fact that they killed it …comes as no surprise.
FYI … The loft dates back to the late 1800’s and was used as a newspaper storage warehouse and over time has been used as a commercial property, residential quarters and many other things to be defined.
But now, the Loft has become a hang-out for all sorts of artists, musicians and everyday kinds of people where they throw a tri-weekly show/party called “Live At The Loft” .
Strangefruitmusic reported that Sade was Back … way back in December 2009 and judging by the way she’s working it, it seems that she plans on being around for a while.
After Soldier of Love dropped in February of 2010, Sony Entertainment released the Ultimate Collection in 2011 while Sade was on Tour. Somehow in the midst of all that Sade found time to release a video for “Love is Found”.
But we’re not complaining … we appreciate the visuals as well as the haunting bass line.

Dammnnn do I love this. Not only because it’s Jesse Boykins III … which is a guarantee you will get eargasms, but because it’s RnB with an electronic twist.
No I’m not talking T-Painish autotune (no disrespect intended) but Jesse Boykins’ sexy voice and slick lyrics over perfectly composed electronic beats that add instead of take away from the tracks. On this 6 track EP there is only one track called “Zoner” that is reminiscent of Mr. Boykins his previous work.
How did this change come about? Jesse Boykins gives fans the following explanation: After my last release “The Beauty Created” 3years ago, I took some time to truly discover my art, my spirit, my voice, my style, my love for life and its mysteries. Apart from the obvious growth, I can’t help but think that the fact that Gold Panda (wiz at electronic and synthesizer music) did the production helped a teensy weensy bit with the new direction.

Remember the nu soul collective Projeto SoulQSoul from Brasil with their instantly enchanting tune “SoulQSoul” ?!
Well I’m sorry to inform you that (not surprisingly) soundcloud is fresh out of downloads for that catchy tune … but the good news is that there is an animated video to make up for that. Since I have this feeling about Projeto SoulQSoul, I guess it’s time to drop some info.
Projeto SoulQSoul is a collective of artists from Rio and São Paulo. The collective consists of the artistic director Marcus Azevedo, singer Nina Black, bass player Denny, DJ Fabiano F Soul and music producer Haiala DJ. They produce a sound that is influenced by Nu Soul and R & B from the U.S., in particular Phily Soul (Soul of Philadelphia) and they have merged that sound with that of the artists who represented the Brazilian Soul Music in the 70’s,80’s and 90’s. Formed in February of 2011 by Rádio Rio Black (web radio) their main goal is to produce music that represents the beauty, the swing and melody of Brazilian Nu soul music.
The first track is most definitely a step in the right direction and more beautiful tracks can be expected in the fall of 2011 when their Mixtape/EP drops.

MeLo teams up with Dr. Woo once again to bring smooth, sensual and eye capturing
visuals to the musical landscape he has created.
In this piece we step inside the dance studio with three talented females as they create an interpretive dance to MeLo’s Heartbeat. “Heartbeat” is a remix of Quadrons original track “Average Fruit” and is featured on MeLo’s timeless mixtape “More Merch“.
I would love to give you the down low on SBTRKT … but who ever “he” is, it’s obvious that the only thing “he” likes to share with us is his music.
The London based producer seems to be very serious about keeping “his” identity under wraps cause even when this “man” plays out he performs behind a mask.
Luckily for us … all that hiding didn’t keep Benji B, Mary Anne Hobbs and Gilles Peterson from noticing “his” musical abilities and singing his praises. After putting out singles, Ep’s and remixes the time has come for SBTRKT’s self titled debut album, which is expected to drop on the 27th of June.
SBTRKT’s first single “Wildfire” was unleashed upon us as a free download a while ago and to make us sit up and pay attention (a couple of days before the release of his album) here is the video ….

Hell yeah it’s that time again. Time for the most productive people in music, Georgia Anne Muldrow and Dudley Perkins, to hit us up with something new!!
Somewhere in July of 2011 Dudley Perkins a.k.a Declaime will release his most focused effort since “Holy Smoke” and it’s called “Self Study”. In case your wondering what the album is about … the title is pretty much self explanatory. In Mr.Perkins words “Self Study is an acknowledgement of the transformation I’ve been going through. This album is a self help tool for me and others to raise the vibration in you to a more positive level.” Yep some deep lyrical content is coming our way. The musical arrangements are equally interesting since it was Georgia Anne Muldrow on production.
But wait there is more … the Self Study CD comes with a full-length DVD, entitled “Interplanetary Peace Talks ” a biographical documentary featuring rare, never-before-seen footage of Declaime with his longtime friends Madlib, Oh No, Kankick & others – in their earliest days of making hip-hop history together in their hometown of Oxnard, CA.
So what does all of this sound like?! I guess like the first single of the album “Quartz” … a track with a laid back Hiphop feel laced with Declaime’s signature fOnk!!
Yep it’s another music video from Amsterdam native MAR. This time however it is not one of his variations but a beautiful acoustic track.
The wonderful thing about an acoustic performance is that listeners are more aware of the lyrics and the voice. In this case … you have no other choice but to listen to the lyrics cause after the first note you’ll notice that you have fallen in love with Mar’s angelic voice…
